The event, organized by Schwartauer Werke, saw hundreds of people discovering all there is to know about bees, what they do, how to care for them, and to taste their produce – honey. Sebastian Portius, VP Innovation & Quality, said various activities took place to raise awareness about bees and to help educate people on their importance.

“Through the bee careful initiative, we have been stressing on the importance of bees for people. This event served the key objectives of the initiative with key players present to create more awareness on bees,” Sebastian said.

A market place atmosphere was created, with gardeners at hand to talk about the most bee-friendly flowers and how to grow them, while beekeepers provided honey tasting for visitors. Information about the different activities concerning bees in the city of Bad Schwartau was also available.

Pupils from local schools presented their bee projects, which are sponsored by Schwartau. The pupils and other young visitors participated in the numerous activities organized, such as face painting, building insect hotels for their own gardens, and different games using bee facts.

“We had many interested visitors who bought bee-friendly flowers and honey products, and learned interesting and fascinating things about bees’ life and their contribution to our food and health,” Sebastian said.
